Dr Linda Northrop
Director, Product Line Systems Program
Software Engineering Institute, Pittsburgh, USA
Linda Northrop has over 30 years of experience in the software
development field as practitioner, manager, consultant, and educator. She is
currently director of the
Product Line
Systems Program at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). The Product
Line Systems Program works in the areas of
software architecture,
component, and
product line
engineering. Her current publications are in the areas of software product
lines, software architecture, and object technology. She is co-author of the
book, "Software
Product Lines: Practices and Patterns."
She is a frequently invited speaker at technical and corporate
conferences and was featured in a television special on object technology aired
by the British Broadcasting Company. Most recently she was a keynote speaker
for the International Conference on
Software Engineering 2001, the
Aspect-Oriented
System Development Conference 2002, and was selected as the 2001 Carnegie
Science Center Award of Excellence for Information Technology recipient.
Dr. Julian Edwards
Chief Operating Officer, Object Consulting,
Sydney
Dr Julian Edwards is Executive Director and Chief Operating
Officer of Object Consulting. In this role he is responsible for all operational
and strategic aspects of Object Consulting's core services business including
training, consulting, software delivery and support services.
Dr Edwards joined Object Consulting in 1992 and has spent the past
fifteen years specialising in component and object-oriented software processes
and has consulted on these technologies to Australia's largest companies. Prior
to his current role he was National Delivery Manager, National Consulting
Manager and a Principal Consultant with Object Consulting. He is also the Chief
Architect of Process MeNtOR�, Object Consulting's
component-based software development process.
Dr Edwards has lectured at universities, industry seminars and
conferences and run numerous industrial training courses and seminars. He has spoken at conferences such as Object
World, TOOLS and Developer.au. Dr
Edwards has published research papers at international conferences and in
international journals including Communications of the ACM and Cutter IT
Journal, as well as publishing a number of articles in magazines dealing with
object technology. He is co-author, with
Brian Henderson-Sellers, of The Working Object (Prentice Hall, 1994).
Dr Edwards holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Geography from
Cambridge University, England and a PhD in Information Systems - Object Oriented
Methods, from the University of New South Wales. He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute
of Company Directors (AICD), a member of The Executive Connection (TEC),
previously a board member for the CAESAR Centre at the University of New South
Wales and an Associate Fellow at UTS and an Honorary Member of COTAR (Centre for
Object Technology Applications and Research). He is also a past Program Chairman
of Object World Australia 1993 - 1996 and Object World Singapore 1996.
Prof John Hosking
Professor and Head of Department, Computer Science Department, University of Auckland, New Zealand
Professor John Hosking has BSc and PhD degrees from
the University of Auckland. He joined the Department of Computer
Science in 1981 and has just stepped down as Head of Department after a
six year term. He has developed an eclectic set of research interests
covering software tools, software engineering, visual languages and
environments, and data mapping systems. His more recent work has
concentrated in the area of meta tools for specifying and generating
domain specific software tools. John is the author of more than 140
refereed research publications and throughout his career he has been
very active in industry consultancy and research contract work.
